GUIdancer 5.2 and Jubula 1.1 available for download

Press release from: Bredex GmbH

Following the successful release of the Eclipse Jubula package on Friday 23rd September, BREDEX GmbH is pleased to announce the immediate availability of the latest versions of Jubula and GUIdancer as standalone applications. GUIdancer version 5.2 can be downloaded from the BREDEX website, and Jubula 1.1 is available via the Eclipse Jubula project page. The new versions offer early warning for component recognition problems, improved refactoring options, as well as new options for dealing with applications.

“One of the frequently-mentioned gripes with GUI testing is that components in the GUI are subject to change” said Achim Lörke, Project Lead for Jubula and GUIdancer “Our object recognition heuristic already reduces the likelihood that a change will lead to a component not being found, but the new system means that we can be warned when the next change could lead to the heuristic failing, and remedy the problem before it occurs.”

GUIdancer users can access this “early warning system” for object recognition using a new BIRT report. In it, testers can see which components in the application were found “easily” by the recognition heuristic, and which were “only just found”, and could perhaps benefit from being remapped. In this way, testers can now take steps to ensure that components are updated before another GUI or hierarchy change results in them not being found at runtime, thus reducing unnecessary test outages.

Both Jubula and GUIdancer users can also benefit from this early warning system when components are collected during object mapping. A new traffic light system on collected components indicates the accuracy of their current recognition status.

Further additions to the GUIdancer and Jubula software include a new refactoring wizard to replace Test Cases with new ones, an embedded agent to allow applications to be started and tested locally without starting the server program, and the option to start Swing and RCP applications via Launch Configurations using the Jubula Features in Eclipse.

Jubula can be downloaded from the Eclipse Jubula Project Website: http://www.eclipse.org/jubula.
GUIdancer is available with a 30 day demo license from http://www.guidancer.com.
A Named User License including updates for one year costs 200€. BREDEX offers training and support for GUIdancer and Jubula, either on-site at BREDEX or individually at customer locations.
