HOUSTON – The Houston complex commercial litigation law firm of Ahmad, Zavitsanos, Anaipakos, Alavi & Mensing P.C. once again is home to four lawyers on the prestigious Texas Super Lawyers listing of the state’s top attorneys.

Joe Ahmad, John Zavitsanos, Demetrios Anaipakos and Amir Alavi all were named among the top lawyers in the state. Mr. Ahmad and Mr. Zavitsanos earned additional honors by being named among the Top 100 Lawyers in Texas and Top 100 in Houston.

To compile the annual guide to Texas’s best lawyers, Texas Super Lawyers researchers conduct a statewide survey that asks attorneys to nominate their peers. A blue-ribbon panel of lawyers assists with final selections, and fewer than 5 percent of Texas attorneys earn the Texas Super Lawyers recognition each year.

Mr. Ahmad primarily represents executives in employment-related litigation, including trade secret and non-compete cases. Elected to the American Board of Trial Advocates, he has been selected by his peers for The Best Lawyers in America and is recognized as one of the country’s leading employment and labor law attorneys in Chambers USA.

Mr. Zavitsanos regularly is hired by other lawyers on the eve of trial to assume first-chair responsibility. He has been recognized on the Texas Super Lawyers list since 2003. He has been Board Certified in Civil Trial Law since 1997 by both the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and the National Board of Trial Advocacy. In 2008, Mr. Zavitsanos was one of six Houston-area lawyers elected to the American Board of Trial Advocates.

Mr. Anaipakos represents plaintiffs and defendants in complex commercial cases, securities fraud, and high-stakes employment matters. He has been recognized by attorneys across the nation in The Best Lawyers in America based on his work in commercial litigation. Listed in Texas Super Lawyers since 2004, Mr. Anaipakos also has earned a “distinguished" rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

Mr. Alavi has litigated cases involving hedge funds and investment partnerships, intellectual property, securities fraud, mergers, energy trading, software development, natural gas pipelines, oil and gas mineral interests, construction defects, and the automotive industry. Since 2006, he has recovered more than half-a-billion dollars in settlements and verdicts for his clients. Mr. Alavi is a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, and has been recognized in the Texas Super Lawyers list since 2005.
