What: PJ Art Co. and JP Wine & Liquor will host “Art for Animals,” an art show and wine tasting event that is being held to raise funds for Kent Animal Shelter in Riverhead. The event will feature pastels, watercolors, oil paintings and drawings from local artists that will be available for sale to the public. PJ Art and JP Wine & Liquor will both have specials. In addition, members of Help Us Help Kent, a youth organization raising money for the animal shelter, will be selling handmade crafts. All of their sales proceeds will go to Kent Animal Shelter. All vendor rental payments, as well as 10% of PJ Art’s sales for the day, will also go to Kent Animal Shelter. There will also be animals available for adoption.
The event coincides with Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, an initiative to promote pet adoption and raise awareness about the millions of dogs currently living in shelters. It is estimated that five out of 10 dogs in shelters are destroyed simply because there is nobody to adopt them.

Directions: LIE to Exit 62 North (Nicolls Road/CR 97). Take Nicolls Road for approximately 3 miles, then take the ramp to Middle Country Road (Rte. 25). Bear left on the ramp for Rte. 25 West towards Smithtown. Go approximately 2 miles. PJ Art Co. is on the left-hand side, inside the former Waldbaum’s Shopping Center.
Photo Ops: PJ Art Co. staff members with Kent Animal Shelter staff and volunteers and animals available for adoption. Volunteers with Help Us Help Kent selling handmade crafts. Local artists and vendors displaying artwork and crafts for sale.
