Get an inside view on the FDM Academy assessment process

The prospect of a job interview is often a daunting and unwelcome prospect for many, particularly for those who have newly graduated.

However, as we all know, to land a role within some of the country’s greatest companies it is important to shine throughout all stages of a firm’s assessment process.

Only last week the company was awarded 9th place within TheJobCrowd’s Top 50 Companies For Graduates To Work For.

The list of top employers was entirely determined by employee experience and showed that FDM’s “graduates like working there so much they are almost surprised at how much they enjoy their jobs.”

Consequently FDM staff gave the enjoyment factor an average rating of 9.1/10, whilst the ‘Company Culture’ category gave the graduate recruiter the joint highest score of 9.8/10.

However statistics like these do little to provide graduates with an idea of what to expect from the FDM assessment process.

This is where independent employee review sites such as Inside Buzz come in.

The company gathers quotes from “those in the know, the employees” and uses the information to provide prospective candidates with “a real taste of what working at a certain company is like.”

Due to the expanding nature of the company, an important aspect of the FDM review was its assessment process.

The FDM staff surveys revealed that the majority of FDM employees had faced two or three rounds of interviews with prospective managers, followed by an interview with a company Director.

A member of staff also offered a valuable piece of advice for jobseekers interested in pursuing job roles with FDM.

"The most important thing is to show your personality, as the skills you possess are only half of what FDM looks for. The ability to fit in the team, both socially and professionally, is more important, as FDM has a policy of developing skills based on a person’s compatibility. Therefore, showing the real you in your interview is vital. If the interviewer feels you won't fit in then so be it, but to attempt to come across as somebody else, either by generalising or attempting to adhere to the professional model, will not have a positive result," he said.
