Hound finds over 18,900 job openings in Pennsylvania even after a rise in the unemployment rate
Pasadena, CA, September 27, 2011 - According to the Pennsylvania Center for Workforce Information and Analysis, Franklin County's jobless rate rose up by 0.3 percentage point bringing it to 7.2 percent in August.The report on the latest increase in Franklin County's unemployment rate suggests that there hasn't been much improvement since March. According to the Labor Department analysis, Franklin County lost 200 nonagricultural jobs from July to August. The total jobs rose to around 57,000 which makes it 600 higher than August 2010.
There was a gain of 400 jobs in professional and business services in Franklin County which means that the sectors growth rate increased by 1.3 percent. Manufacturing sector, education and health services, leisure and hospitality, and the wholesale trade sector detected a trivial decline.
Unemployment dropped slightly to 10 percent in Fulton County. Jobs were added in the manufacturing sector, while other sectors remained unchanged over the month. For the moment, unemployment rose in Cumberland County. The Harrisburg-Carlisle saw its highest jobless rate since November.
Pittsburgh region's jobless rate rose from 7.4 percent in July to 7.8 percent in August. The Department of Labor and Industry reports that the labor force increased by 13,900 people, out of which only 8,200 found jobs. There was a loss of 800 jobs in the region due to job cuts by federal, state, and local governments in August. Local governments shed almost 1,200 jobs with 700 of those outside of educational services. Government employment cut 2,300 jobs in August compared to that of August 2010.
