Imperato Calls for Meeting with Mauder and Chrysler Employee Buyout Committee

Press release from: i1connect

Detroit – After months of speculation, a group of Chrysler employees have finally put together a buyout bid for Chrysler, and no one could be happier than the man who first proposed it, Daniel Imperato.

As of March 1, 2007, Daniel Imperato has let his plan be known, a UAW buyout of the Chrysler Corporation.

Almost two months later, a group of Chrysler workers in Toledo, Ohio formed the " Chrysler Employee Buyout Committee" and sent a formal proposal to Dieter Zetsche, Chairman and CEO of DaimlerChrysler AG.

When reached for comment, Imperato stated that he was "very pleased" with the Chrysler employee buyout proposal and would do "whatever he can to help the workers secure ownership of Chrysler."

"At this time I would like to call on Michele Mauder and the Chrysler Employee Buyout Committee for a formal meeting to advance their bid for Chrysler," said Imperato. "I believe that the hard working employees of Chrysler deserve a chance to own what they have built. Therefore out of respect to America's labor, I am willing to use my talents and abilities to see the middle class working people of Chrysler own Chrysler."

Since initially announcing his proposal, Imperato has been in contact with Union Representatives and has called for meetings with UAW President Ron Gettelfinger to advise him on the best scenario for Chrysler and its workers.

Gettelfinger has stated publicly that he would like to see DaimlerChrysler AG maintain ownership of Chrysler, but is open to other options and did not rule out UAW equity ownership .

"We've had a war room established where we're focused on all the different alternatives at Chrysler," Gettelfinger told local Detroit radio station WJR.

Since Imperato initially announced his plans for union ownership of Chrysler , bidders such as Kirk Kerkorian, Blackstone, Cerberus Captial, and Magna International Inc., have all reached out for the United Auto Workers for an equity ownership plans.

However, all have asked for major union concessions to do so. Under Imperato's plan, he has asked for no major union concessions and has the most aggressive plan for successful union ownership.
