This specific CD represents Liszt as a "modern" composer. Liszt has been some of the most modern piano player of all periods, not simply he completely revolutionized playing the piano but furthermore the music language itself.

The selections on this CD are not just "late-works by Liszt". The disc tries to showcase the "modern" points within the Hungarian master's music via a relatively substantial time-span. The earliest compositions are the Two Legends as well as the latest ones would be the "Bagatelle Without Tonality" along with the "Csardas Macabre" and "Csardas Obstine."

Both pieces based upon Bach; the "Fantasy and Fugue on the theme B-A-C-H" and also the "Variationen uber das Motiv von Bach ("Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Zagen")" are witness to Liszt's great involvement with organ music and his lifelong esteem with J. S. Bach.

Taken altogether this particular launch offers some sort of sight on Franz Liszt among the most cutting edge figures of the 19th century music.

The Tracks:

1 Fantasie und Fuge uber das Thema B-A-C-H
