PIVET LAUNCHES NEW LINE OF MOBILE ACCESSORIES AT BEST BUY TO CELEBRATE BLACK HISTORY MONTH

ANUARY 2020 - Pivet Communications, one of the few Black-owned companies in the U.S. Consumer Electronics industry, is launching a limited-edition line of cell phone cases to honor Black History Month. Pivet is extremely proud to announce that BestBuy.com will carry the range of phone cases throughout the month of February.

Pivet's owner and founder, Michael Pratt, has built the company on the belief that its products and messaging should disrupt and pivot the consumer electronics industry towards a multicultural audience with new technologies, products and ways of doing business.

Each new case has been designed to articulate our history in a specific way. The iconic and transformative Rosa Parks phone case represents belief and defiance in the face of inequality, and the Sankofa is a symbol of looking to our past to understand who we are today. The two innovator cases feature Garrett Morgan and Lewis Latimer's patent designs and are a literal representation of true innovation.

ROSA PARKS
On December 1, 1955 Rosa Parks was arrested after she refused a bus driver's instructions to give up her seat to a white passenger. Her decision sparked a 381-day Montgomery Bus Boycott that led to the Supreme Court's ruling that segregation on public transit is unconstitutional.

SANKOFA
Sankofa is a word in the Twi language of Ghana that translates to, "go back and get it" (san - to return; ko - to go; fa - to fetch, to seek and take). The Sankofa Bird reminds us that we must continue to move forward as we remember our past. And at the same time, we plant a seed for the future generations that come after us.

GARRETT MORGAN
Garrett Morgan blazed a trail for African-American inventors with his patents. His 'safety hood' as the prototype for the gas mask that saved thousands of American lives in WW1. In 1923, Mr. Morgan invented the three-way traffic signal known and used all around the world.

LEWIS LATIMER
Lewis Latimer was an inventor and draftsman best known for his contributions in light bulb and the telephone patenting. He patented the carbon filament in 1881 that enabled light bulbs to burn for a significantly longer period of time, introducing the modern light bulb.
