A complete handwriting instruction app for adults launches on Kickstarter
The new Getty-Dubay Handwriting Success App makes the stylus and tablet tools to better handwriting. It launches as a Kickstarter project on National Handwriting Day, January 23, 2020.
The Getty-Dubay handwriting program has already been featured in more than 75 journals and on television & radio, including The Wall Street Journal, Time, The New Yorker Blog and Wired.com. Their 2009 New York Times Op-Ed invites readers to improve your handwriting directly in the printed newspaper article.
WRITE NOW is a hands-on workbook that walks through every element of better handwriting. Using this book, the authors presented over 200 handwriting seminars around the country, many of those were at hospitals where all told over 4,500 doctors learned more legible handwriting. One of those doctors reported that not only did his staff appreciate his new legible writing, but his wife could now read his love letters.
Now, the popular Getty-Dubay WRITE NOW book becomes the Getty-Dubay Handwriting Success App for iPad and Android tablets with a stylus.
"The Getty-Dubay Handwriting Success App is an ebook that you write in," explains co-author Inga Dubay. Among the options, users can erase their work and reuse each page as many times as they like -- they can brush up on their handwriting wherever their tablet is, whenever it is convenient.
"For those who think that you are too old, or it is too late to improve your handwriting: Wrong!" says co-author Barbara Getty. "You, too, can learn italic handwriting." Italic handwriting doesn't have all the loops and curlicues of conventional cursive, Getty explains. "So be brave, and try something new!"
You'll learn a legible and logical way to write lowercase letters, capital letters, numerals and punctuation; then you'll join letter for cursive italic. You'll practice individual letters, then letter pairs, sentences and paragraphs. There are over 80 pages of instruction and practice.
"These days, people are finding that using a stylus with their tablet is more intuitive than typing," says Handwriting Success owner Jonathan Dubay, noting that as a result, the stylus manufacturer competition is heating up.
But what if you are not happy with your handwriting?
"For many, this app will be an opportunity to finally have the kind of legible, fluent, good- looking handwriting they've wanted but didn't know how to achieve," says Dubay.
