Dallas Police Department and Nixle to Co-Present at Social Media the Internet and Law Enforcement (SMILE) Conference

Dallas, TX – Sept 9, 2011 – The Dallas Police Department will speak on its use of cutting-edge, online communication tools in a co-presentation with Nixle, a community information services provider, during the fourth annual Social Media the Internet and Law Enforcement (SMILE) Conference, Sep. 28-30. The department will highlight the new technologies it uses to keep citizens informed, including Nixle messaging.

“The Dallas Police Department prides itself for being at the forefront of technology that is constantly evolving,” said Dallas Chief of Police David Brown. “We have made a strong commitment to our citizens to provide them with timely information about what we are doing, and new technologies have played a major role in accomplishing this. We are happy to discuss our implementation of Nixle messaging as part of our comprehensive communication strategy.”

Eric Liu, CEO of Nixle, commented, “It is an honor to co-present with the Dallas Police Department and speak about the benefits of citizen messaging for law enforcement agencies. The SMILE Conference is the leading conference devoted to social media, Internet and law enforcement initiatives. The three-day event will discuss the use of social media in regards to public order, social activism, and the interaction of old media with new media.

The SMILE Conference will be held in the downtown Dallas Aloft Hotel (Young St.) from September 28th through the 30th. Chief Brown will host a reception on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. in the Aloft Hotel to welcome attendees prior to the start of the Conference.
