Stinova and congatec jointly present at OVAB Munich Digital Signage conference

Stinova, a leading provider of Digital Signage Software solutions and content production services and congatec, an innovative hardware manufacturer of embedded computer boards will jointly present their latest developments at the 2011 OVAB Munich Digital Signage conference from September 14 – 16.

Stinova will exhibit innovative software extensions to its Digital Media Player software for PC-based platforms. Two of the many extensions on display will be glasses –free 3D content for auto-stereoscopic 3D screens and 3D Facial Recognition for real-time audience measurement. For the retailer, Facial Recognition provides important statistical information such as customer count, dwell time in front of the display, direction of movement, gender, and age categories. In addition to the
valuable statistical data, content can be made more ‘dynamic’ in response to the target audience.

Based on the complex real-time processing of different tasks, the media player needs to support a much higher scale of CPU performance. The challenge of this environment is to have devices with passive cooling and small form-factor enclosures so that the media player can be easily mounted on the back of the screen. Congatec will present for the first time a new reference hardware platform that is based on the module-form-factor COM Express design to meet demanding Digital Signage applications. With its built-in Intel® Core™ i7 and Sandy-Bridge Chipset, this player incorporates sophisticated hardware designs from congatec that allow simultaneous playout of multiple full HD or 3D multi-view videos alongside real-time Facial Recognition for audience measurement - all in a passive cooled, 35mm ‚thin’ case.
