Sony Ericsson Reveals Sabine Lisicki As The Winner Of The Xperia™ Hot Shots

08-31-2011 09:02 AM CET | Leisure, Entertainment, Miscellaneous

Press release from: Sony Ericsson

Sabine Lisicki from Germany received the most votes from fans around the globe in her fight to be crowned the winner, earning herself a life-changing support prize with Sony Ericsson worth €100,000.

This long-awaited reveal came six months after tennis superstar and long-term Sony Ericsson ambassador, Maria Sharapova, unveiled the six lucky women’s tennis players that make up the Xperia Hot Shots ahead of the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami in March this year.

Sony Ericsson selected six of the top up-and-coming stars of the WTA from around the world who were tasked to take each other on in challenges which saw tennis meet entertainment.

Sabine battled it out against fellow world-class tennis players Bethanie Mattek-Sands (USA), Heather Watson (UK), Alize Cornet (France), Sorana Cirstea (Romania) and Dominika Cibulkova (Slovakia).

The rising stars were given the opportunity to take part in an array of exciting tasks and challenges, working with some of the world’s most talented musicians, designers and entertainers. From wowing the crowds at the star-studded pre-Wimbledon party in a tennis ball dress created by Lady Gaga’s fashion designer Alex Noble, to playing tennis in the sky with Gary Lineker and DJing with world-class D David Guetta, the Xperia Hot Shots have had an action-packed season.

“Being an Xperia Hot Shot has been the best thing that’s ever happened to me! My highlight of the campaign has got to be meeting David Guetta. I can’t thank all of my fans and Sony Ericsson enough for their amazing support throughout the whole campaign – I wouldn’t be here without them!”

Stephan Croix, head of Global Marketing Partnerships at Sony Ericsson said “The Sony Ericsson Xperia Hot Shots campaign has been a great success and has been innovative and exciting throughout. We have attracted over 820,000 fans on Facebook and 3 million views on YouTube since we launched in March and it has provided them with the chance to get closer to the WTA players and celebrities as they have embarked on the numerous challenges and stunts throughout the year. We hope that fans have enjoyed the campaign as much as we have. We will continue to drive Sony Ericsson as the leader in entertainment through our partnerships.”
