Querencia at Barton Creek senior living community recently welcomed Ambassador Lewis Lucke as he gave his first hand account of the U.S. response to the Haiti earthquake. Lucke recently served as U.S. Response Coordinator for the Haiti earthquake, leading the United States’ $1 billion relief and recovery program.

“We were so happy to host Ambassador Lucke at our community,” said Nadia Sharp, lifestyles coordinator at Querencia. “It was fascinating to hear about the Haiti earthquake and the aftermath of it from someone who was personally so involved with the relief and recovery program. Our residents really enjoyed asking questions and hearing stories about Ambassador Lucke’s interesting life.”

Ambassador Lucke served for 27 years with the U.S. Agency for International Development. His prior position was that of first USAID Mission Director for Iraq, where he managed a $4 billion reconstruction and economic development program, USAID’s largest program ever, and the largest reconstruction effort funded by the United States since the Marshall Plan.
