British Born Artist Marco Smigovaggi Holds First Exhibition in Bangkok Thailand
Soul, Painting by Marco Smigovaggi, up and coming contemporary artist.
Included in the exhibition will be two paintings purchased by and on loan from a private collector, such as his most famous painting to date ‘Flamingo’ which was sold at a private auction for $50,000 and the more familiar ‘Soul’ sold at a staggering $65,000. Other familiar paintings such as ‘Before and After’, ‘Flush Toilet’ and ‘Section 18’ will also be shown in the exhibition.
“Khaosan Road is an ideal venue for Marco’s first exhibition.” Says promoter and friend Mark Alexander, “On any one night there are thousands of young and old travellers from all over the world using the area as an hub to travel to other parts of South East Asia and Australia so it’s a great chance to promote his work internationally from one single exhibition.”
The Yorkshire born artist who now resides in Bangkok, Thailand, has often been compared to the likes of Salvador Dali and Pablo Picasso but declares ‘The only influence in my life is me’ although he has openly shown his admiration for the works of Dali and Modigliani. The Yorkshireman who was born in Wakefield, West Yorks., is quickly becoming a popular figure among Bangkok’s art elite and his promoter has stated that there will be more up and coming public exhibitions, but where, as of yet nobody knows.

Marco Smigovaggi is a new up and coming contemporary artist, based in Bangkok. Originally from Yorkshire in the U.K. Marco has been compared to the likes of Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali.
