New York’s Audience rated Tango Lovers as the Best Tango Show in the City

Celebrating the BICENTENNIAL of URUGUAY, “Enamorados del Tango (Tango Lovers)” performed in New York for the first time, on August 20th, 2011 at the Queensborough Performing Arts Center.

Miami, FL, August 25, 2011 - Feedback received from the audience describes an array of emotions that the group was able to transmit through their art. Among the audience were local authorities, the Consul of Uruguay and people from different nationalities, such as Uruguayans, Argentineans, Colombians, Canadians, Americans, Ecuadorians, Peruvians, Russians, among others.

From previous presentations the group’s performance was described by a renowned journalist and TV anchor in Uruguay, Alberto Kesman as the best Tango show in Montevideo in 2010, “Enamorados del Tango is absolutely an amazing show of the highest quality. The excellent artistic expression of the group walks the audience through different stages of the TANGO dance”

The musical director, Federico Britos, through his impeccable performance and versatility, demonstrated the audience the reason for his four times Grammy award. He brilliantly mastered his violin from Candombe to TANGO. Gustavo Casanave, current Director of the Jazz Department at the Harbor Conservatory for the Performing Arts in New York City and considered by his native country press as “one of the best pianists of Uruguay”, amazed the audience throughout his presentation and remarkably with his piano solo while performing “Adios Nonino”. Miguel Arrabal and Pedro Giraudo at the Bandoneon and Counterbass respectively, complemented the wonderful group of musicians with their superb interpretation. Alfredo Lerida displayed his talent not only though its magnificent voice but also with his creativity as artistic director and general producer of the show. Tomas Alcon, a long time TANGO ambassador made an excellent complement to Alfredo’s contemporary touch.

Among the dancers, Marcos and Magdalena Ayala, amazingly young talents which made the audience vibrate with their sensuality and passion for TANGO. Rodrigo and Mercedes Fleitas, Sara Grdan and Ivan Terrazas from Uruguay, Croatia and Argentina showed that TANGO has no borders.

"Enamorados del Tango" - Tango Lovers, is a group of renowned and Grammy award musicians, talented singers, composers and extraordinary young dancers with rich international careers sharing all the passion, strength and sensuality of the TANGO from Rio de la Plata with the world. The group was founded in 2003 on Valentine’s Day in Miami by Alfredo Lerida, a talented Uruguayan resident of Miami, General Director and first vocalist of the group. The objective of “Enamorados del Tango (Tango Lovers)” is to create global awareness of the art and culture of Rio de la Plata, while integrating other Latin American cultures.
