Future-proofed and secure DNS appliance

Future-proofed and secure DNS appliance

New York, NY – 24 August 2011 - InfoWeapons, Inc. announces the release of SolidDNS® 5.1.430, which features a new management interface and several updates to key components designed to achieve optimal performance and security.

This version of SolidDNS® adds a restricted UNIX shell interface preferred by many administrators when performing advanced troubleshooting and network diagnostics. This new command line interface utilizes a secure shell that employs familiar UNIX tools such as tcpdump, dig, and nslookup, among others.

“We added this UNIX shell to address persistent clamor from administrators who do most of their work using this interface or some form of it. When we designed SolidDNS®, we intended to make it so intuitive that even entry-level administrators don’t have to possess advanced skills to operate it,” says InfoWeapons CEO Luis Gopez. “As a matter of fact, we’ve managed to automate several complex BIND operations and put them in the background so that each time you click a button on our Web management interface, things just work perfectly.”

“The addition of this UNIX shell is a testament to our steady entry into some of the world’s largest and most enduring telcos, which employ experienced engineers who prefer keyboards when troubleshooting equipment than clicking buttons on their screens. Like any good company who listens to customers, we openly consider feature requests and accommodate them even as we continue our efforts to make SolidDNS® secure, intuitive, reliable and the best in its class,” explains Mr. Gopez.

This release also features the BIND Configuration Generator Optimization that significantly reduces the time to generate BIND configuration files by 70%. Another addition is a new API method that permits administrators to control and manage such functions as remote logging. With this update, administrators can now easily add and remove remote log servers or disable the service altogether.

Other notable enhancements include updates to the SolidDNS® operating system, BIND engine, DHCP and improvements to the S-Shield Service, software update feature, pointer record handling, and logging. This latest upgrade is available for free to those buying the appliance for the first time and existing customers with unexpired Annual Upgrade Protection plans.
