Michigan-Based Company Specializing in Memorial Narratives Expands its Operations

Taylor, Michigan — August 13, 2011 — As the Greatest Generation fades into memory one Michigan woman set out on a crusade to capture their stories for posterity. Teresa Bartow of Taylor, Michigan is the owner and founder of A Lifetime of Stories. The mission of her small business is to provide a hardbound narrative of an individual’s life to the family left behind. This professionally bound and beautifully represented “biography” is a treasure to be kept and passed down from generation to generation.

“I’ve always been a scrapbooker,” Teresa tells us, “but the idea for Memorial Books came after the funeral of a friend. We sat next to someone we did not know at the funeral, and I remember being amazed at the stories she told about my dear friend. I thought to myself: Someone should write this down!” Every great idea begins with a single catalyst. This event would lead Teresa to create A Lifetime of Stories, a company that specializes in holding on to those memories so that others can share in them.

What started as a small enterprise of intimate gatherings has grown into church supported memorial efforts. “We realized that our books fulfilled a missing piece to the grieving and healing process,” explains Teresa. “As more and more churches came to us asking for us to create these books for the family of the deceased we knew that we were onto something.”

A Lifetime of Stories now has special packages designed for churches and funeral homes. Memorial books are a great product that funeral homes can offer as part of their own memorial packages. Memorial services are the perfect time to capture memories of the deceased. Instead of holding a separate gathering, as many now do, the funeral home has the opportunity to hand out and collect memory slips at a time when people are feeling the most open, the most sentimental, and in need of a channel to release their emotions. These hardbound books are yet another means of providing a healing experience to those that grieve and would make a beautiful tribute to the deceased.

“Not only will families be able to share their own stories of their mom, dad, grandparent, family, or friend, but they get to read the experiences that others had of that person, giving them a better understanding of their loved one,” Teresa states. “All too often the people closest to us are pigeon-holed into a role. Grandparents, for example are always “old” in our brains. We don’t know that eighteen-year old girl who wore red lipstick and liked to go to dances, or that young man with wavy hair that wanted to be the next Frank Sinatra, or the fact that our friend did something for someone she hardly knew and it changed that person’s life.”

Thanks to A Lifetime of Stories now we can.
