Press release from: Watt Works

Cheshire, United Kingdom (3 August, 2011) – Watt Works Consulting Ltd, a dynamic consulting, training and coaching company that helps individuals and organisations achieve sustainable performance improvement, is pleased to announce that it has developed a new course in the field of systems thinking entitled ‘Lean Thinking and Operations Management’. This exciting course will be offered at the Watt Works training venues throughout the UK and is also offered in-house to interested organisations.

Watt Works are specialists in the field of system thinking, and this 3 day course will provide a compelling introduction to the philosophy, concepts and tools of the systems thinking approach of Lean Thinking as applied to Operations Management.

The trainer is Geoff Elliott, a consultant and trainer with decades of experience at senior and board level. Geoff has consulted for a wide range of blue-chip companies internationally and has been seconded to Cranfield University. He is a Master Black Belt (MBB) in Lean and Six Sigma in the US and Japan, is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management and lectures on the Open University’s MBA programme in strategy, systems thinking, quality and operations management.

Geoff will be guiding delegates through the history of Lean Thinking, exposing a number of unhelpful myths prevalent in the field, engaging the mind-set and methodology of Lean Thinking and exploring a range of useful Lean Thinking tools. An emphasis of this course will be developing an awareness of how and when to utilise the correct Lean Thinking approach, rather than selecting random tools without thought as to their appropriateness in a given context.

Delegates who attend this stimulating and interactive course will acquire skills that can assist them to develop a leadership vision and corporate culture utilising relevant Lean tools and concepts, improve cycle times, reduce demand failure and identify methods for waste and cost reduction.

This course is highly relevant to business consultants and analysts and many people in middle to senior management. It may be particularly relevant to those who have the capacity to influence their organisation’s culture and way of working and thinking.

Watt Works Consulting’s Director of Training, Damian Hamill, commented:

“We are delighted to be adding this timely course to our UK training schedule. Watt Works is at the cutting edge of encouraging organisations to think in a systemic way and reap the rewards. Lean Thinking, properly understood and applied, can be a remarkably powerful approach to Operations Management. We are very pleased to have a trainer of Geoff Elliott’s calibre to ensure that our delegates appreciate Lean Thinking in its most flexible and productive manner.”
