Dr. Jürgen Böhm and Josef Bogenschütz complete the line-up

Medos AG is preparing for the step up to becoming a complete provider in the area of cardiac surgery by recruiting the former Maquet managers Dr. Jürgen Böhm und Josef Bogenschütz.

On the 1st August, heart surgeon Dr. Jürgen Böhm and graduate engineer Josef Bogenschütz became members of the management board at Medos Medizintechnik AG and, in so doing, completed the line-up. As a result, there will be a clear focus on the continuous development of a predetermined product range for cardiac surgery and cardiovascular technology. Dr. Böhm is responsible for clinical management, marketing, new business developments and certification and Mr. Bogenschütz for sales, research and development, production and quality management. Dr. Volker Hamm, spokesperson of the management board, is, as before, responsible for the areas of finance, human resources, IT and purchasing.

"I am very much looking forward to working with Mr. Bogenschütz and Dr. Böhm", said Dr. Hamm. "Along with their proven leadership qualities, both have considerable expertise in the development and marketing of products and services pertaining to cardiac surgery. As a result, we are ideally placed to develop our status as an innovative and continually stable partner for heart surgeons and cardiovascular engineers.”

"Medos has the potential to develop into a gem of a technology company, with a stable future in cardiac surgery applications as well as other peripheral markets“, according to Dr. Böhm. "I am particularly looking forward to having close personal contact with our customers, in order to address their wishes and to instigate the development of successively improved and novel approaches to creating innovative therapy solutions." Mr. Bogenschütz makes it clear that Medos will invest heavily when it comes to expanding the product range and "will continue to concentrate on top quality products - made in Germany. Our aim is to expand our position as complete provider in the area of cardiac surgery."

Thomas Villinger, managing director of the German company Zukunftsfonds Heilbronn, or zfhn for short, (full owner of Medos since the beginning of 2011) emphasises that the objective is "to establish Medos as a healthy, German, fast-growing, midsize company specialising in medical devices. With the new board members, Mr. Bogenschütz and Dr. Böhm, we are providing Medos with a powerful engine to help achieve this objective."

Dr. Böhm can draw on four years' experience working as clinical director at Maquet Cardiopulmonary AG in Hirrlingen, Germany and likewise at Maquet Cardiovascular in Wayne, USA. The 44-year old doctor was active for many years at Sana Herzchirurgischen Klinik (Sana heart surgery clinic) in Stuttgart. The heart surgeon, who acquired a teaching qualification at Eberhard-Karls-Universität in Tübingen, Germany, switched to the medical devices sector four years ago.
Mr. Bogenschütz was most recently the chairman of the management board at Maquet Cardiopulmonary AG. The 45-year old engineer began his career in the manufacturing sector, working at Bizerba GmbH and Beru AG, before switching to the medical devices sector eleven years ago, when he joined Jostra AG.
