Funds Benefit Nonprofit Helping Families Transition from Hurt to Hope during Domestic Violence Awareness Month

(Dallas, Texas) Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011 – Hope’s Door, a charitable organization that has supported domestic violence survivors for more than 25 years, is celebrating its anniversary with a fun fete on Saturday, October 22. The event, “Reach for the Stars, Celebrate Hope,” will take place at the famous Frontiers of Flight Museum at Dallas’s Love Field.

Partygoers can enjoy dinner from an exquisite chef’s station featuring some of the area’s hottest restaurants, a cigar lounge, and fantastic one-of-a-kind items in both silent and live auctions. And, acclaimed Dallas band Plush will serve the sounds of disco, 80’s and today’s Top 40.

Guests are invited to don elegant cocktail attire. The evening unfolds at 7 pm with cocktails and silent auction. Dinner is served at 8 pm followed with a live auction and dancing. Individual tickets may be purchased for $150 each, and tables of 10 are available for $1500. Event proceeds will enable Hope’s Door to continue serving families in need of domestic violence services.

Celebration chair Caonha Tran-Dillon says the evening is especially meaningful to her.

“Domestic violence is a silent epidemic. As a survivor, I’m breaking that silence and stepping out to help make a difference, empower others, and support a cause that is very near and dear to my heart. This event is about celebrating changed lives, the power of hope, and what makes survivors capable and strong,” Tran-Dillon explains.

Since it first opened to families 25 years ago, Hope’s Door has served thousands of domestic violence survivors by providing shelter, transitional housing, and counseling. Trained staff and volunteers have also answered more than 25,000 crisis calls and provided education and vital outreach services to families throughout the Metroplex.

Hope’s Door is the only domestic violence shelter in Collin County. After two and a half decades, the mission of Hope’s Door is the same as day one. The group’s goal is to break the cycle of family violence by offering intervention and prevention services to families.

“One out of three women will experience domestic violence in their lives,” said Lisa Vincelli, president of the board of directors. “For those living with that pain, the path from victim to survivor can seem overwhelming. That’s where we come in. Hope’s Door provides just that—hope. Through our critical intervention efforts and long-term outreach and support programs, we are helping break the cycle of domestic violence one family at a time.”

The anniversary event is timed just right, as October is recognized as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Throughout the month of October, Hope’s Door will make a special effort to raise issue awareness and distribute its signature purple wrist bands throughout north Texas.

Event sponsorship opportunities for the “Reach for the Stars, Celebrate Hope” special event are still available. For more information about Hope’s Door or to purchase event tickets, please visit www.hopesdoorinc.org.

In 1986, Hope’s Door was a 24-hour crisis line without a house to call home. After using hotels to house clients for three years, the doors to Hope’s Door officially opened in 1989. Since then, Hope’s Door has provided safe shelter for nearly four thousand women and their children. The organization has also answered more than 25,000 crisis line calls.

The mission of Hope’s Door is to offer intervention and prevention services to individuals and families impacted by domestic abuse. The organization also provides educational programs, comprehensive counseling services, and other aid for families affected by domestic abuse in Collin County, Dallas County, and surrounding areas.

Housing Industry Full Of Hope
Monthly volume has been declining for over a year now; it is already touching a nearly 31-month low, thanks to hardening interest rates and unaffordable property prices. Correction is expected in the industry, but there is another perspective to it. No increase in property prices is also a correction. The property rates have been rising but it is not corresponding to the increasing inflation rate, which is a good sign.
Hope for the indigenous Amazon tribes
The indigenous people left on our planet hold an ancestral link to the history of what was before the development of cities like Rio and Sao Paulo. Their customs have stayed with them throughout the years and today they continue to live peacefully within the Amazon.
