Exotissimo Introduces a Complimentary Day of Food Travel for Visitors in Yangon, Myanmar
After experience the sights and sounds of Yangon, guests may have worked an appetite. Myanmar’s biggest city is also a haven for gourmet and gastronomy enthusiast, as many sweets, treats and foods decorate the streets of the former capital city.Guests start at the main morning market on 18th Street, where vendors gather to sell everything from fresh vegetables and fruits to fish and meats as well as a variety of dipping sauces and pastes popular in Burmese cooking. Another market area will be visited, this time at Seikkan Tha Street, with many stalls selling palata (thick pancakes), flowers and fruits.
The streets are decorated with local treats like local pancakes and donuts as well as noodle stalls. Guests are more than welcome to stop for a sample.
Of course, a culinary experience in Myanmar is deemed incomplete without sampling some tea. A stop will be made at Maung Aye Tea Shop for a cup or two.
Another Burmese specialty will be sampled at Shwe Myot Taw for a hand at let pet thoke, Burmese fermented tea leaf salad, served with a selection of fried nuts and beans and can be washed down with a fresh fruit juice. The dish is unusual for visitors, but popular with the locals.
Lunch is served at Feel Myanmar, a local favorite. So much so that food is sold out by 1.30pm.
