Premiere of the Photo+Art Book Hamburg'11

From 2nd to 4th of September 2011, 70 national and international exhibitors will attend the premiere of the Photo+Art Book Hamburg'11 at the House of Photography, Deichtorhallen Hamburg (Germany).

July 17th 2011 - Hamburg (Germany) – The Photo+Art Book Hamburg’11 will be focusing on the printed medium as an artistic platform. The creative fair is not only a forum for well-known publishing houses but also invites visitors to discover young talents and creative movements outside the mainstream. Artists, designers, illustrators, printers and many independent labels will attend the Photo+Art Book Hamburg'11. "We wanted to create something new in Hamburg: an international marketplace for artistic publications," explains fair director Oliver Lähndorf. The fair also offers an extensive general program, consisting of workshops, book signings and a two-day symposium. "We are happy to announce that some of the most prestigious Dutch and Belgian photographers will attend the symposium," says Jasmin Seck, fair director of the Photo+Art Book Hamburg’11. An award for the best, unpublished picture book will be conferred additionally.

The general program of the exhibition includes:
1st Symposium - The focus of this year's symposium is on the Dutch and Belgian photo and book culture. Photographers such as Jan Banning, Cuny Janssen, Carl de Keyzer, Anouk Kruithof, Christian Lutz, Gabor Ösz, Erik van der Weijde, Stephan Vanfleteren, Florian van Roekel and Willem van Zoetendaal will attend the Photo+Art Book Hamburg'11.

2nd Workshops - the theme "The Art of Self Publishing“ is in the spotlight of various workshops. Self Publish Be Happy, ABC Artists Books Cooperative, Bookfactory,
myphotobook and Pepperoni Books will conduct workshops.

3rd Book Talks & Signings - The invited artists will offer artist talks and book signings.

4th getPublished Award 2011 - A jury of experts will choose the top ten submissions for the getPublished Award 2011. The audience of the fair will then decide on the placement of the submissions. The winner will receive a complete photo book production with the Publisher Seltmann+Söhne.

5th Exhibitions - In addition to the exhibition of the Deutschen Fotobuchpreis 2010,
visitors will have the opportunity to admire the works of all invited Dutch and Belgian artists in a group exhibition

6th Meet&Greet - The audience has the opportunity to meet publishers, photographers and experts in a relaxed manner during the evening Meet&Greets.

The Photo+Art Book Hamburg'11 is organized by the Friends of the House Photography e.V.

The Photo+Art Book Hamburg is intended to be a platform for experts, artists, printers, book and art lovers as well as the interested laity. The lead organizer is the association Freundeskreis des Hauses der Photographie e.V.. The venue is the House of Photography, Deichtorhallen Hamburg, Germany.
