In a Wepolls.com poll created by Tom Anderson, a.k.a. “myspacetom” who is the cofounder of MySpace.com, most respondents are willing to abandon physical discs.

Out of a total of 632 people surveyed, 37 percent say they will get rid of physical disc delivery to stay at the $7.99 price point. Twelve percent were already exclusively using either the physical disc service or streaming, and do not plan to switch.

“It’s not surprising to see that people are willing to give up physical discs,” says Wepolls.com Chairman, Alex Karendreas. “The world is becoming more digital, high speed internet is becoming more prevalent, and more people would rather stream on their computer or Xbox 360 than wait for snail mail. Let’s face it; we’re a culture of instant gratification.”

However, the news isn’t all good for Netflix. A staggering 19 percent vow to change services to competor Zediva.com, Redbox, Bockbuster, or some other service. Only eight percent will continue using both streaming and physical discs.

Rounding out the bottom numbers, five percent will cut back on physical discs, and four percent will get rid of streaming to stick with the physical mail service. That’s less that the six percent who plan to switch to piracy. Six percent of Netflix’s customer base is a staggeringly large number.

Only five percent of those surveyed did not already subscribe to the Netflix service.
