Kings Park, NY — School-Business Partnerships of Long Island, Inc. (SBPLI), is announcing that The Fred Breithut Memorial Golf Outing will be held on Thursday, July 28 at Stonebridge Golf Links and Country Club in Hauppauge. The golf outing is being named in honor of Fred Breithut, Founder and Chairman, SBPLI, who passed away on April 26, 2010.

Registration and lunch begin at 11 a.m., with a shotgun start to follow at 1 p.m. This year’s honorees are Frank W. Otto and Joe Kaminsky.

Mr. Otto is the current President at Long Island Forum for Technology (LIFT). Mr. Otto also worked at Grumman Aerospace Corporation's Aerodynamics Group evaluating foreign threat aircrafts and then Chief Hydrodynamicist in the Marine Systems Division. In 1979, Mr. Otto became part of EDO Corporation and served in various positions in the advanced systems and engineering departments before becoming Director of Operations for the Government Systems Division. He worked his way up holding positions such as General Manager of the Marine & Aircraft Systems Division, Group Vice President of Integrated Systems and Structures, and eventually became EDO Corporation's Corporate Executive Vice President. In 2007, Frank joined Com Tech Telecommunications as Senior Vice President of Operations.

Mr. Kaminsky is the current Software Engineering Manager at Motorola Solutions, where he leads a team of software developers in creating a software platform architecture to create a line of handheld mobile computers. Before joining Motorola, he designed data acquisition systems software at Grumman Aerospace Corporation in their Structural Test Group and with digital voice communications systems software at Telephonics Inc. He also developed aircraft cockpit instrumentation/fuel gauging software at Parker Hannifin Corporation.

Tickets are $250 per golfer and $900 per foursome which includes a round of golf, golf carts, lunch and dinner. Tickets are $100 each for full dinner with cocktail hour only (no golf). Cocktail hour begins at 5:30 p.m. with dinner served at 6:30 p.m.

Sponsorship opportunities are available. All proceeds will be used to help support the costs associated with SBPLI’s annual Long Island FIRST Robotics Competition, which costs more than $250,000 to host. If you are interested in being a sponsor, e-mail: SBPLIgolf@scc-cm.com.

School-Business Partnerships of Long Island, Inc. (SBPLI) was founded in 1984 by Fred Breithut with the goal of developing partnerships between local high schools and businesses that would provide students with practical experience and curriculum development, while helping the business community develop its future workforce. Over 100 partnerships have been formed. In 1999, Long Island FIRST was formed for the purpose of developing a Long Island Regional FIRST Competition. In 2000, 14 high school teams participated. The Long Island Regional has since grown with 50 teams participating in 2011. On January 8, 2011, registered teams were provided with supplies and the competition's game rules. The 2011 Competition was held at Hofstra University on March 24-26, 2011.
