This Friday and Saturday fans and e- racing enthusiasts can once again witness the world’s e- racing elite when they fight for the next TTXGP championship title at the famous Formula 1 racing track “Circuit de Spa” in Franchorchamps (Belgium). Despite their unfortunate setback during the last race MUENCH will take the chance to race and fight.

The Formula 1 racing track is situated about 20 kilometers away from the German border. Being famous for its “Raidillon-Eau-Rouge”- turn and its Formula 1 Grand Prix the racing circuit is one of the fastest and most modern tracks of our time. In the early 1920s drivers already adored to race the track, which was entirely made out of a natural dirt track at that time. Hence, it is even more significant that nowadays people get to watch e- bike races on this high-speed course.

The race is expected to be very suspenseful since World Cup leader Alessandro Branetti(CRP Racing) and former World Champion Matthias Himmelmann (MUENCH Racing Team) will put all their talent and skills to a good use to be victorious. “Spa is a very fast and long course and therefore, quite a challenge for our bikes,” said Matthias Himmelmann. “I am looking forward to be able to race Alessandro again. Since we unfortunately weren’t able to finish the race in Silverstone Alessandro and I still have a score to settle.”

Two weeks ago everything seemed like it was going to be a thrilling duel as well. Leading the field during the open practice MUENCH had to face a bitter misfortune on their way to the first qualifying when the team noticed a sudden smoke emission and therefore, had to end to race before it had even started. The fire that was caused by an error in the battery severely damaged the TTE-1.2. A complete repair has not been possible yet. “Instead we completely concentrated on our new bike and improved the 2011 TTE-2.0,“ stated Himmelmann. Matthias Himmelmann will drive the new bike, which was already used by MUENCH driver Thomas Mertens in Schleiz, this upcoming weekend. “I’m expecting a new high speed record in Belgium - not necessarily just for MUENCH racing but also for our competition. The racing track is more than suitable,” promises Himmelmann.

Both, the open practice as well as the first qualifying take place today. The second qualifying takes place Saturday morning and the final race eventually starts on Saturday night.
