Text Therapy Online Training: CSWA Policy & Practice Director Joins TBHI
Dr. Maheu, a pioneer in the field of telebehavioral health and telehealth and the founder of TBHI said, “We are honored to be joined by Laura W. Groshong AM, LICSW, the Clinical Social Work Association’s Policy and Practice Director. She is a leader in social work’s strong focus on technology, and we are excited to have her join us in our webinar about text messaging.”
While explaining the specific focus of her discussion with her guest, Dr. Maheu added,“ Many professionals haven’t fully considered the many serious implications of exchanging text messages with clients or patients. In this hour, the pivotal topics of clinical efficacy and risk management will be examined to help clinicians make responsible decisions regarding the use of texting in their clinical services.”
Dr. Maheu continued, “Issues to be explored will include the different types of text messaging platforms, and how to decide which ones foster compliance with legal and ethical mandates. We will help the participants identify ways in which text therapy may lead to undue exposure to risk, and how to handle the ensuing dilemmas in a clinical relationship.”
Laura W. Groshong, AM, LICSW, a major contributor to the field of clinical social work, is delighted to join Dr. Maheu for this presentation. "Many CSWA members have been interested in developing a telemental health element of their practice.”
