Dr Rajendra Pareek Conducts Free Medical Camp for School Students at JMA Pilani Rajasthan

It is known that good health is equal to a thousand boons and since the children of India today represent India tomorrow, ensuring their healthy growth and development is indeed of prime concern.

Children absent from school for chronic health conditions risk falling behind in their study schedule. Children with untreated vision problems cannot track printed letters and words across a page and learn to read. Further, oral disease in children is responsible for a significant chunk of lost school hours each year. Child health care services play a key role in the early identification of developmental, behavioral, social, environmental and biological conditions that affect children's ability to learn.

Smt. Jamuna Mishra Academy (JMA) established in the year 2004 is presently one of the most sought after schools at Pilani considered as Oasis in the desert state of Rajasthan well known in India today for top ranking institutions like GD Birla founded Birla Institute of Technology and Science BITS Pilani University as well as CSIR Laboratory CEERI, L.N. Birla Naturopathy & Yoga Kendra and globally renowned Birla Science Centre.

Starting from 2004, in the entire Shekhawati belt, JMA Pilani is well known for conducting every year the annual medical camp in the month of July for all children with the help of leading medical practitioners of Pilani. Right from the stage of admissions, JMA regularly follows up the immunization schedule of children in the school and advice the parents accordingly. The checkup objective is to focus and identify deficiencies in children's vision, hearing, nutrition, behavioral and oral health as well as general medical needs. JMA Pilani indeed takes its inspiration from the famous Nelson Mandela quote "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."

Coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima, for this year, the free medical camp commenced on 16 July 2019. The opening session was conducted by Dr Rajendra Pareek highly respected doctor in Pilani who has also been Professor & Medical Superintendent BITS Pilani Medical Centre. Having obtained a Masters in Hospital and Health Systems Administration degree from BITS, Dr Rajendra Pareek is well known among the alumni of BITS Pilani spread across the globe.

Being the current Chairman of Vidya Vihar Municipality, he firmly believes in giving back to society and is a well known social worker who has achieved a lot in terms of better facilities during his tenure. He did a marathon health checkup for over 350 students in the opening session. He is planning another marathon in the next couple of days for the remaining students.

Mrs Booma Natarajan, Principal JMA Pilani along with her team of teachers and supporting staff ensured that all arrangements were duly made. The principal profusely thanked Dr Rajendra Pareek for sparing his very valuable time for a noble cause on a voluntary basis. The checkup data is also shared with concerned parents for follow-up actions.

Recently Annu of class VI won gold medal for age group below 12 at Asian yoga championship held at Amritsar.
