The Pfeiffer Vacuum Running Team

Asslar, Germany, June 17, 2011. This past Wednesday evening, almost 100 Pfeiffer Vacuum employees who are enthusiastic runners took part in the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge, one of the biggest corporate races in the world. A total of 68,500 runners from 2,700 companies registered for the race. A portion of each runner's entry fee was donated and then matched by the bank J.P. Morgan. Altogether, 246,000 Euros were collected, which will be used to support projects for sports for the disabled, among other things.

In addition to the fund-raising, the shared experience was the highlight for many participants. In running shirts specifically made for the event, the Pfeiffer Vacuum employees from the Asslar, Göttingen and Wertheim locations met in Frankfurt to jointly take on the 5.6 km long route. Manfred Bender, Chairman of the Board of Pfeiffer Vacuum, was also at the starting line. The starting shot was fired at 7:30 PM, and the colorful group of runners took off as fast as they could. From the Alte Oper (Old Opera), the runners passed through the Platz der Republik to the finish line in the Senckenberganlage, a prominent scenic route. The colleagues cheered each other on, and skilled runners helped the slower ones keep pace. The runners reached their destination in a good mood, and many ran in formation over the home stretch and were cheered on by the crowd.

After the race, the teams from Pfeiffer Vacuum and the subsidiaries Trinos Vacuum Systems and adixen Vacuum Products got together in the Pfeiffer Vacuum party tent in the Grüneburgpark. Everyone agreed: "This is a wonderful experience and an incomparable atmosphere."

The runners shared impressions and finish times until late in the evening while enjoying light foods and cold drinks.

Afterwards, Manfred Bender said, "It was a really successful event that strengthened our employees' team spirit and sense of community." "We are looking forward to the Brückenlauf (bridge run) in Wetzlar for our next sporting challenge. Of course we will also participate in the J.P. Morgan race in 2012 again."
