Press release from: HospitalityCrossing

Pasadena, CA, June 10, 2011 – The restaurant and bar industry is expected to add 425,000 jobs this summer season.
This is an increase of 4.6 percent compared to March for the industry. The restaurant industry is America’s second largest private sector job creator, with almost 13 million employees. That is around 10 percent of the American workforce.
Most of the jobs created by the industry will be seasonal and are created during the months of June, July, and August. In summer 2010, the industry created around 401,000 jobs and in summer 2009 the figure was 391,000 jobs. The estimated figure of 425,000 jobs shows that the industry is recovering at a better pace than other sectors of the economy such as construction and manufacturing.
The typical summer restaurant job is a small family-owned restaurant with less than 50 employees. The main five states where most of these jobs are going to be created are:
• New York - 39,700
• California - 35,100
• Massachusetts - 27,100
• New Jersey - 23,200
HospitalityCrossing, a job aggregator site for jobs available in the hotel, restaurant, and bar industry has found around 70,000 jobs in the industry.

HospitalityCrossing is part of the Employment Research Institute, one of the most powerful and comprehensive job search institutions dedicated to helping professionals find jobs that will enhance their careers.
