All Eyes on Asia Pacific for Global LNG Buyers and Sellers Meet

From 19 – 21 September 2011, the CWC Group will host the 3rd World LNG Series: Asia Pacific Summit in the global LNG hub, Singapore. The Asia Pacific Summit is known in the industry as the most influential buyers and sellers meet, and welcomes delegates from over 150 companies across the world to listen to ground-breaking discussions, build contacts and do business.

The global gas market is more dynamic than ever before, and the Asia Pacific market is certainly no exception. Over recent weeks, competition to meet Asia's increasing LNG demand has begun to intensify as LNG sellers across the world fight for a share of this very lucrative market.

Leading LNG supplier Qatar, has already increased its shipments to Asia, while fourth-largest exporter Australia has over US$200 billion of LNG projects in the pipeline and aims to triple production to 60 million tonnes a year by 2020 to help meet Asian demand (Source: Reuters.com). North America, in particular, is also looking to Asian buyers to absorb a portion of their domestic gas glut caused by a rapid rise in supply from the discovery of shale gas fields. Adding to this, the recent award of a permit to Cheniere from the US Department of Energy to export to countries outside of those with which the US have a Free Trade Agreement could pave the way to future LNG exports from that country.
