IDP Education, the world’s largest student placement firm, is hosting the largest ever North America training event for overseas advisors, June 18-22 in Chicago.

Philadelphia, PA, June 08, 2011 -- As part of its ongoing efforts to raise the standards expected of a student placement organization, IDP Education is organizing the largest ever North America training event for overseas student advisors.

From June 18 to 22 in Chicago, IL, more than 45 members of IDP’s overseas counseling Network from 16 countries will join more than 75 university representatives from 61 institutions for networking and training. Following this Users Group Workshop, the overseas participants will collectively visit nearly 50 U.S. and Canadian higher education campuses.

“This event is unprecedented in its scale and objectives,” says Andrew Thompson, IDP’s chief operating officer. “We hope it demonstrates IDP’s commitment to being the best possible international student recruitment partner and adviser for North American institutions.”

The agenda will consist of activities that benefit both the university representatives and the overseas participants. This includes:
• Panel sessions where university members educate counselors on important topics such as U.S. and Canadian admissions, immigration and ranking systems.
• Market intelligence where overseas regional experts provide useful information on student markets and enrollments tips.
• Focus groups where IDP partners can meet with the organization’s regional leaders to discuss various topics.

“Never before has a single student placement organization brought so many participants from overseas or incorporated so many university representatives into counselor training,” says Harmeet Pental, IDP’s regional director of South Asia and North America. “Following the Users Group Workshop, IDP will staff the world’s largest collective group of international student advisors to have visited the United States and Canada and toured university campuses. They will even have eaten in the dining halls and slept in dorm rooms.”

This is IDP’s second North America Users Group Workshop. Only IDP staff and institutional partners are invited to participate.
