New Flight Route from Chongqing in China to Phuket as Chinas Economy Grows, by Castlewood Group

New flight routes from Chongqing, one of the five central cities in China, to Phuket, Thailand have been directed due to the increase of Chinese tourism to this destination. Sichuan Airlines will be operating this service three times a week on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Chinese tourism is expected to reach 1.05 million by the end of this year, seeing as there were more than 130 flights from China to Thailand within the Chinese New Year period and more than half – around 80 of those flying direct to Phuket. Figures show that there were over 130,000 visitors from China around Chinese New Year with occupancy rates of three to four star hotels up to 90 percent.

In fact in a recent poll by a China travel website ‘Ctrip’ Phuket was ranked 6th most popular holiday destination in the world, over 7 million votes were received. Phuket’s close proximity to China is a major attraction with a short flight time of around 3hrs, 15 minutes from Chongqing to Phuket. The beautiful white sands, laid back life style and famous Thai hospitality are also a big pull for Chinese tourists.

The fact that the economic situation in China is continuously growing allows for citizens to set aside a healthy budget for travel and forecasters remain optimistic that Chinese visitors are likely to increase somewhat during the next three to four years with the help of the strong Yuan and China’s economic growth.
