Bastyan Autumn/Winter 2011/12

The latest Autumn/Winter collection from Bastyan is a rich mix of sumptuous colours and tactile textures sitting against silhouettes that evoke a nostalgic almost cinematic feel.

Owner and founder Tonia Bastyan designs for the modern woman who wants more than just trend from her wardrobe, she offers her a mix of well cut items which transcend seasons and give a feeling of comfort and quality without compromising on design.

The coat collection for Autumn epitomises this design aesthetic and features a range of statement styles all with the Bastyan signature handwriting. Highlights include a chic collarless coat with sculptured shoulders taken through to inky blue, nutmeg and grey with contrast black sleeve or there is the pillar-box red pea coat, which adds a touch of casual urban luxe to the collection. Faux fur features heavily either throughout either as trims and wraps or on all over statement pieces such as the black faux pony skin coat with oversized knitted cuffs.

Separates are key; pairing soft fluid blouses with skinny pencil style skirts or tailored peg style trousers. Multi use items such as the silk embellished shirt makes the perfect day to evening solution. Soft handle garments are a modern mix of luxurious knitwear or hand-embellished items with beautiful and intricate beadwork.

Tailoring is sharp and defined and brings a touch of vintage glamour through snug fitting jackets and dresses with a svelte nipped in waist or tailored trousers, all perfect for everyday wear. Dresses still feature heavily and are designed to appeal to a variety of women. Expect to see flattering silhouettes and desirable easy-to-wear fabrics such as the drape print dress taken from a vintage Japanese print Tonia found on her travels.

Colours are a beautiful array of classic neutrals such as stone, honey, grey, navy, charcoal and black, mixed with muted tones of nude, oyster, ginger and aubergine. Fabrics are elegant and effortless with mix of tailored wools, silks and cashmere with soft knits combine to create a collection of beautifully designed garments that would enhance any stylish wardrobe.
