EA Effect & AmareSinh event in Philadelphia on May 21, 2011
Philadelphia, PA: Two brave ladies chose to keep a boutique in Northern Liberties open despite a slowly recovering economy after its previous owners gave up on it. Ella Kolanowska and Anya Payne, who are both jewelry designers, had been developing a growing clientele at a boutique, called Posh, only to find that the owners decided to close the store a few months later. Instead of giving up on their loyal customers and the hope of revitalizing Philadelphia’s fashion industry, these two ladies took over the store and renamed it EA Effect where “Effect” stands for “Eclectic Fashion For Expressive Creative Thinking.” The mission of the store is to combine vintage and new pieces that are at different price points so that everyone has an opportunity to express their uniqueness.“We are here, and our roots are so deep, but our futures so far, so I like to try and incorporate both while being timeless,” said Kolanowska when asked about why they carry vintage and modern clothing.
In order to hype their brand and boutique, Kolanowska and Payne are going to host exciting fashion and art parties. The first event will be a night to remember with an outdoor fashion show and after party, in the Piazza, on May 21, 2011 at 7pm. It will celebrate the inauguration of their new store where they will also showcase emerging Philadelphia fashion label AmareSinh and other local artists.
“We love working with local designers especially AmareSinh. We love every piece because it looks good, the finish is good, and it goes well with our jewelry,” said Anya when asked how she felt about carrying the label.
For AmareSinh, this event will be a new stepping stone as it is the first time their clothing can be tried on and bought in a retail store. Their Spring line includes silky blouses, edgy pants, and eye-catching mini dresses. For Kolanowska and Payne, this event will be showcasing their very own brands, Pearl in Crown and Independent Flavor. Kolanowska uses a distinct combination of soft metallic threads to make interwoven pieces that are sprinkled with pearls and chains while Payne infuses a combination of soft and hard elements to form a darker yet edgy collection that includes necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and “Funk” t-shirts. The event will feature a fashion show, DJ, hour devours, drinks, and special sales.
