Press release from: TheCelebrityCafe.com

LONG ISLAND, NY (May 12, 2011) - Before TMZ and Perez Hilton, there was TheCelebrityCafe.com. This year, the longest-running entertainment magazine on the Web is celebrating its "Sweet 16."

As the name suggests, TheCelebrityCafe.com covers celebrity gossip, as well as entertainment news, exclusive interviews, movie and music reviews, and hosts hundreds of contests per month. Boasting 4.8 million unique readers, TheCelebrityCafe.com is rated as one of the top Top 5,000 sites in the US according to Alexa.

TheCelebrityCafe.com was started in 1995 with $10 by Dominick Miserandino, a former web developer/programmer whose previous site experience includes WSJ.com and Cosmo.com, among others.

“When I started TheCelebrityCafe.com in the nineties, I had no idea the sort of cult status and following it would have. In the online world, 16 years strong is quite an accomplishment. To this day, people approach me saying they can’t start their day until they’ve logged onto the site,” said Miserandino, who is also the author of two travel humor books: "How to Survive Your First Year of Marriage by Travelling" and "Mothers-in-law, Shopping, and Baby Talk, Oh My!"

Sixteen years later, TheCelebrityCafe.com is one of the most widely read online entertainment publications and continues to offer its readers a diverse combination of news and reviews they have become accustomed to. Miserandino and his team of over 50 different writers – many of who telecommute - have received numerous accolades from major Internet rating sources. The site generates advertising revenues in the six figures, and predicts they will attract even more advertisers this year.

So what is TheCelebrityCafe.com’s secret to longevity in a world demanding immediate gratification?

“I think the answer is being realistic about business,” continues Miserandino. “When we had offers to expand during the dot-com bubble, we said no. We were exceptionally cautious in terms of overspending and overgrowth. From the beginning, we’ve taken a slow and steady route in terms of business and it’s kept us alive and happy for the past 16 years.”

And what is Miserandino’s advice to other online magazine entrepreneurs? “Don’t expect to make a killing at first!”
