Gap Adventures Recognised by National Geographic Traveller’s ‘Top Tours of a Lifetime’ List
Gap Adventures’ Ghana Untouched trip ranks in top 50 list of the most authentic and innovative trips by National Geographic.Melbourne, VIC, April 27, 2011 -- Gap Adventures, the world’s adventure travel leader, today announces that National Geographic Traveler magazine has selected Gap Adventures’ Ghana Untouched as one of its ‘Top Tours of a Lifetime’ for 2011. Each year National Geographic Traveler handpicks holidays to create a list of 50 tours, characterized as the most authentic, innovative, immersive and sustainable. This is Gap Adventures' fourth appearance on this prestigious list.
"This is great recognition of our commitment to innovation in adventure travel,” says Ben Stasiuk, Africa Destination Manager. “Our Ghana Untouched tour is a rare opportunity for an immersive cultural engagement, for travellers to explore the traditions and tribes of villages far removed from the developed world with expert guides who do far more than bridge the language gap. They help our travellers connect,” Stasiuk says.
On the Ghana Untouched trip travellers spend six nights in simple hotels, four nights camping, and two nights in a beach bungalow. Gap Adventures’ small group tours have permission from local tribes to camp on their lands, an experience which offers a unique insight into the lives of local tribes’ people and their cultures. As a leader in sustainable tourism, Gap Adventures strives to create unique adventure holiday experiences while minimising its impact on the environment, respecting local people and cultures, offering economic benefit to local businesses and communities and providing a memorable experience for travellers while protecting destinations for future generations.
