SHAUN WHITE (USA) IS CROWNED MEN'S TICKET TO RIDE (TTR) WORLD SNOWBOARD TOUR CHAMPION 06/07 AT US OPEN

Shaun White (USA) was crowned at 17.30 U.S. EST at base camp in front of a mass of spectators to huge applause and hundreds of flashing cameras. Hannes Schoenegger, TTR Sponsorship Manager, presented the TTR award – a 10-kilo metal/wood plaque for White’s (USA).
An ecstatic White (USA) stated: ‘ I’m really proud to win the title. TTR is a great way for kids to build up their careers. I’m stoked on becoming the TTR World Snowboard Tour Champion!’
In a best of 3-runs format, White (USA) stole the show from the start constantly outscoring himself. His best run earned him 94.75 points for a frontside 1080, Cab 1080, frontside 900, backside 900, frontside 720 ending with a switch alley oop backside rodeo 720 - to earn himself the contest title and 1250 TTR Ranking Points – 1000pts plus banked 25% - to drop him directly into the TTR World Nr 1 spot to become the Men’s TTR World Snowboard Tour 06/07 Champion.
Danny Davis (USA) finished in second place for the second year in a row. And Markus Malin (FIN) rounded out the podium with third place.
In the women’s contest, it was a tight race between halfpipe superstars Kelly Clark (USA), Torah Bright (AUS) and Gretchen Bleiler (USA) and showcased some of the most progressive riding in women’s halfpipe history. Clark (USA) took the lead after her first run with a frontside air, backside air, frontside 540 grab, indy, frontside 720, Cab 360, earning $20,000 and a Motorola cell phone. Bright’s (AUS) air-to-fakie tailgrab in her first run earned her the $5,000 Best Trick award presented by Nintendo and a new Nintendo Wii system. Bleiler (USA) took second place in the women’s halfpipe finals followed by Bright (AUS) in 3rd place.
Bright’s (AUS) moved her up to TTR World Nr 1 spot – in great contention for the Women’s TTR World Snowboard Tour Champion at super SIX(6)STAR event Roxy Chicken Jam, Park City, USA, 22nd-25th March 07. ‘I can’t wait for the Chicken Jam! The girls and I are going to battle it out for the TTR World Snowboard Tour Crown!’
