SGS offers State-of-the-Art Testing for Electrical and Electronic Products at Taunusstein in Germany

With over 2,500 m² of state-of-the-art laboratories at the Taunusstein site, SGS offers exemplary testing services for the electrical and electronic (EE) industry in Germany and surrounding regions.

Established in 1848, the Taunusstein site has been testing products for over 171 years. Extensive investment at the site has allowed it to grow to a point where it now employs over 230 workers and operates eight laboratories, including two specializing in EE products.

The facilities are ISO/IEC 17025 accredited and it acts as an EU Notified Body (NB) for toys, and a Competence Center for Chemical Testing (restricted substances).

As an EE testing center, the Taunusstein facility focuses on:
• Chemical testing, to EU regulations including RoHS & REACH, testing to US California Prop 65 and battery testing
• Food contact material (FCM) testing, to national and international requirements including LFGB and 10/2011
• Material composition testing
• Material identification

In addition to general EE consumer products, the site also has a particular focus on testing batteries, lamps and luminaires.

For the wider consumer product market, the site also offers a wide range of testing solutions for:
• Textiles, garments and footwear
• Toys and children’s products
• Housewares and consumer goods
• Furniture
• Sport and leisure equipment
• Cosmetics, personal care and household
