Script Pipeline Screenwriting / TV Writing Competitions

Screenwriting and Teleplay Competitions
Entry Deadline - May 1, 2011

LOS ANGELES, CA - Script Pipeline, a full-service resource site for screenwriters and film industry professionals seeking new material, is accepting submissions for their ninth annual Script Pipeline Screenwriting and fourth annual TV Writing Competition through May 1, 2011. All entrants will have their work read and critiqued by a panel of literary agents, development executives, managers, and producers, and will be eligible to win one of four awards packages of $3500 cash plus prizes, in addition to cash and prizes by placing in the top 20. For the first year, all 20 finalists may attend (at no cost) Script Pipeline's newly re-launched Secret Door Pitchfest, where they may network one-on-one with 20 A-level producers, managers, and agents. The contest winners will be announced at Script Pipeline’s awards ceremony, planned for July 2011, at Writer’s Boot Camp in Santa Monica, CA.

Founded in 2000 by Chadwick Clough, Script Pipeline is a leading online destination for the screenwriting community and has placed several scripts with studios for production. The company delivers script analysis services to writers from around the world and connects screen and teleplay writers with industry executives through writing workshops, annual contests, pitchfests, and their Writer’s Database. Script Pipeline was named one of the "Top 50 Websites for Filmmakers" by Moviemaker magazine in August 2009 and is largely considered one of the best screenwriting resource companies worldwide.

"It really boils down to access, something even the best writers have trouble securing," said General Manager Matt Misetich. "What we've been able to do for writers in the past two years alone has been pretty awesome."

Script Pipeline has played an instrumental role in launching the professional careers of previously undiscovered talent. In the past six months, writer Evan Daugherty, winner of Script Pipeline's 2008 competition, sold a spec to Universal for $3 million, while Micah Barnett, a Pipeline Workshop "Recommend" writer, sold an action/comedy to Warner Bros. for six figures, and 2010 contest winner Tripper Clancy landed representation with FilmEngine. Script Pipeline executives helped all three writers link with the proper industry channels through their extensive network of high-level industry contacts.

The 2011 competition will receive an estimated 3,500 scripts this season from writers worldwide. Submission info can be found here: www.scriptpipeline.com/screenwriting-competition.
