Although Stakes have grown a lot but Love for Cricket is still the same

The Indian cricket team has won the tag of ‘World Champions’ for the next four years. After winning the World Cup Final on 2nd April’11, the team has been showered with number of rewards. Whereas on one hand the BCCI has rewarded the team with 10 million there by on the other hand, state Governments have also decided to give them big prize money. The government of Rajasthan has decided to add a complimentary trip for the Indian team on Palace on Wheels, the luxury Train of India along with the prize money.
28 years ago the World Cup was bought to the country by the Kapil Dev’s team and now is led by M S Dhoni but in contrasting styles. Apart from the winning cheques the team has not yet stopped receiving honor, both in terms of cash and love. BCCI has declared Rs. 1 crore for each player, Rs. 2 crore to Dhoni and one-one crore each to four Delhi Players, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli and Ashish Nehra. Gujarat announces to honor Yousuf Pathan and Munaf Patel with Eklavya Award whereas Dhoni to be graced with ‘Uttrakhand Ratna’ award by Uttrakhand Government.
“The players of the Indian team have done us proud,” said Narendra Modi, Chief Minister of Gujarat. Delighted with the team efforts and victory, Sheila Dixit said, “the entire nation is rejoicing with this victory.”
28 years ago when Kapil’s team bought the cup home, the prize money then in today's conversion rate was just Rs 14 lakh and now when on Saturday India won the cup they were given sixty times more of that amount. "In 1983 nobody given us any chances to even win one or two matches but we won the World Cup,” said Madan Lal, 1983 World Cup squad.
Although, the stakes and clams have grown over the years, but the love and affection for the cricket is still the same as it was in 1983.
