Mr Sumesh Wadhera, Convenor, SIJS 2011 said, “When we started our journey, with SIJS, our focus was to provide a common platform to the industry for showcasing the best of their innovations. Now running in the Fifth year, it is overwhelming to witness such a response from the industry. We already have over 3,000 registered retailers and expect participation from over 8,000 retailers to witness the innovative jewellery and technology exhibited by about 120 exhibitors. ”
Elaborating on the appropriateness of the exhibition timing, Mr Wadhera said “We have festival and wedding season lined up, starting with Vishu and Tamil New Year Day on April 14, followed by Easter on April 24 and finally Akshaya Tritiya on May 6. These festivals mark a special day in a traditional country like ours where buying gold and making a new start is considered auspicious. Thus it gives an apt opportunity to the jeweller’s community to stock up inventory.”
The show will be followed by Educational Trade Seminars which promises to bring the innovations in the gems and jewellery industry for the trade participants. The seminars will focus on topics such as designing and merchandising for industry growth, Investors perspective towards jewellery business, uniform gold rate in Karnataka, Best business practices, etc.
Industry leaders such as Nirupa Bhatt, managing director, India & Middle East, GIA, Dr. Assissi Menachery, managing director, Lenner Mae Pathway Consulting Pvt. Ltd and Prashant Bhojani of Rapaport India Pvt. Ltd, will be the key speakers at the seminars.
