“WOMEN’S PROWESS” Calls For Large Scale Entrepreneurship Opportunities For Women In India

Leading Education Institution International Institute of Information Technology, I²IT (www.isquareit.edu.in) and the Natarajan Education Society (www.nesconnect.org) today called for a national movement to enable millions of women to become entrepreneurs and create worthy jobs for their fellow citizens. Pune has been a role model for women to succeed and the lessons can be taken country-wide!

Dr. Ganesh Natarajan, Founding Trustee of NES said “We have seen in the corporate and social sector that women, given the right encouragement and opportunities can exceed all expectations. In fact, in our eco-system which consist of eleven organisations, nine are led with distinction by women. The time has come for women to become entrepreneurs on a large scale and create the jobs and livelihoods the country needs.” He further spoke about generating skills for under privileged communities by partnering with Government, Micro Entrepreneurships. He also discussed how the traditional jobs would be taken over in future by Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. He concluded saying that “Performance and Entrepreneurship are Gender Neutral”

Ms Aruna Katara, President of the Hope Foundation and Research Centre said “Through the last many editions of this conclave we have showcased outstanding women from all walks of life and inspired thousands of young people to embark on successful careers. This year we are showcasing the success stories of both women entrepreneurs and career builders and given a special call for more entrepreneurs to emerge.”

Chief Guest Dr. Annurag Batra, Chairman & Editor-in-Chief of BW Businessworld & Exchange4media shared the 5 Mantras to become a Good Entrepreneur. He said, that “Good Intent matters”; “Believe in every word you say and the subconscious creates the path for you”; “Feminine qualities like Love, compassion, Kindness, Keeping Commitments are requisites of an Entrepreneur”; “Recognize your passion and be happy and centred”; “God helps those who help themselves and others”. He believes that Results is an outcome of Hard Work and “If you can dream it, Do it”.

The panel discussion at “Women’s Prowess” led by Dr. Uma Ganesh, Chairperson of Global Talent Track featured success stories from Manufacturing (Ms. Uma Nidmarty – CEO, Lectrotek Ltd.); IT (Ms. Dipti Agrawal – Co-Founder & CEO, Tudip Software); Social (Parul Vaidya – General Manager, Social Venture Partners, Pune Chapter), Journalism (Sheetal Kharka – Vice President, BW BusinessWorld) and other sectors. In previous editions of the conference, success stories like Ruchi Mathur CEO of Pune City Connect, Ipsita Dasgupta of Star TV and Mini Menon Founder of LHI Digital have been featured.

Ms Aruna Katara

Ms Aruna Katara is the President of Hope Foundation and Research Centre, a public charitable trust started by her father and Founder Chairman of Finolex Group of Companies, Late Shri Pralhad P Chhabria. She has over 22 years of hands-on experience in key performance areas like management, administration and facilitating in the expansion of the family-owned business, prior to dedicating her efforts towards the inception and actualization of her dream projects of providing quality education to the not-so-privileged student community. The Educational Divisions of Hope Foundation and Research Centre are Finolex Academy of Management and Technology (FAMT), Ratnagiri and International Institute of Information Technology (I²IT), Pune. Hope Foundation has a Research Centre viz. Pralhad P. Chhabria Research Center (PPCRC), Pune. Managing Trustee of Hope Foundation is Ms. Amrita Katara.

Women’s Prowess is the brain child of Ms. Aruna Katara started in the year 2006. She has been instrumental in providing higher education and industry opportunities to hundreds of students in India to equip themselves with skill-sets and knowledge through knowledge assimilation at Ratnagiri and Pune through various industrial, academic and research collaborations with many leading MNCs and foreign universities.

Dr Ganesh Natarajan

Dr. Ganesh Natarajan has over 30 years of Industry experience including 25 years as CEO for Aptech & Zensar Technologies. He grew APTECH’s revenues 50 times and listed it on the London Stock Exchange. During his tenure Zensar became a digital leader in seven countries with strong focus on the triple bottom lines of Profit, People and Planet.

A PhD from IIT-Bombay and an alumnus of NITIE and Harvard Business School, Ganesh has led Innovation and Knowledge Management Initiatives nationally for CII and NASSCOM and has been Chairman of NASSCOM and NASSCOM Foundation. Case studies on Ganesh and Zensar have been developed and taught at the Harvard Business School.
