A boy magician discovers a powerful cape that Red spies will kill for.

Warning to all, especially wimpy kids!--Edward Bereta’s “Kid with the Cape” is everywhere in the E-Universe! Find it on Border’s Kobo, Apple’s iPad and iPhone, the Sony Reader, Amazon’s Kindle and Barnes and Noble’s Nook! Optioned for a movie, Producer Michael Edwards is looking for a star.

It’s 1954 and in America’s big cities, school kids hide under their desks during civilian training drills. Many families stock up on food while others build atomic shelters. The “Big Red Scare” is in full swing. The Russians have the H-bomb and are ahead of the U. S. in long-range rockets and have hundreds of intercontinental bombers.

Americans fear that a Communist take-over of the world may be imminent. Communist spies lurk everywhere. Some interwoven invisibly within the U. S. government itself. Stealing technological secrets is Russia’s biggest ambition.

In small-town Pennsylvania, a young magician, Stanley Robeski, discovers a powerful cape once owned by the greatest illusionist who ever lived. But Red spies find out and want it, too, and will go to any lengths to get it--even cold-blooded murder! Soon a Red Death Squad is on the innocent boy’s trail.

Hang on tight--readers--there are questions galore! Where did the cape come from? How did the Reds track its whereabouts? Where can Stanley seek help? How can he escape once he realizes that the Reds have no qualms about killing him or any of his friends?

Brace yourself for an exciting e-read, accompanied by 17 full-page drawings by talented illustrator Charlotte Tarlitz, which gives “Kid…” a graphic novel effect. One reviewer has stated that regarding character development, a picture is often worth a thousand words.

Two nasty villains, Anton, the Red Leader, and the murderous assassin Olga don’t plan on leaving any evidence behind. They are joined by two evil henchmen, Tresky and Tunk.

“’Kid with the Cape’ is a high-octane action-adventure--a thrill ride you won’t want to miss!” says James W. Bennett, prominent author of over a dozen YA books.

“What are you waiting for? Read it now!” states Sydney Mocilan, H.S. editor/book critic for the Calvary Christian Academy Chronicle, Normal, IL. “It’s a darned good, all-seasons read!”

Bereta’s “Kid with the Cape” has been optioned for the movies by Hollywood producer Michael C. Edwards who explains, “It’s a great story and could make a great movie sometime soon. We’d like Justin Bieber to read the script. He’d make a wonderful Stanley who’s really just a sweet, typical kid that finds himself pitted against some very nasty villains.”

Edwards continues, “Although the novel has some humor, it has a grittiness and realism that the Harry Potter stories lack. We’ll keep trying to get the script to Mr. Bieber but often you need a little luck to get the attention of a rising phenomenon--even for a starring role.” Michael Edwards’ website is www.premierattractions.net

Piker's Press publishes low-budget paperbacks, "Kid with the Cape" being the first. It also creates graphics for silk-screening and T-shirts.
