XClinical presents the initiative “MARVIN4KIDS” at the DIA Annual EuroMeeting in Geneva

XClinical GmbH, Munich, Germany – March 25, 2011 – XClinical, a European vendor of innovative software products for eClinical trials known for its innovative and user-friendly CDISC ODM-certified EDC software suite MARVIN, presents the initiative “MARVIN4KIDS” for the first time at the DIA Annual EuroMeeting in Geneva. The conference takes place from March 28 to 30.

“MARVIN4KIDS”

MARVIN4KIDS is an XClinical initiative to support child cancer care in cooperation with SIOP (International Society of Paediatric Oncology). XClinical has already been active in the area of child cancer research for several years already. The company has supported the GPOH (Society of Paediatric Oncology and Haematology) by providing a MARVIN licence at reduced costs. In SIOP XClinical has found an excellent partner sharing the belief, that in order to make better treatment possible it is necessary to invest energy, time and money in child cancer research and child cancer care. XClinical committed itself to donating 10,000€ to SIOP by the end of 2012. From March 2011 onwards XClinical will present the “MARVIN4KIDS” initiative at large clinical data management conferences. “We intend to make MARVIN4KIDS a real success for SIOP and XClinical. By supporting SIOP financially and by making more patients, families, doctors and researchers aware of SIOP’s great work, we hope to contribute to a future with excellent child cancer treatment. Thus we will frequently communicate this initiative to the clinical research community,” says Dr. Philippe Verplancke, CEO of XClinical.

SIOP’s vision

SIOP has a vision that no child should die of cancer. To achieve this vision SIOP is committed to ensuring that each child and young adult with cancer has access to state-of-the-art treatment and care. Each year, more than 160,000 children worldwide are diagnosed with cancer while an estimated 90,000 die from the disease.
SIOP President Gabriele Calaminus notes: “Targeted scientific research and universal access to care and support for children and young adults with cancer must be made public health priorities in all countries, and now. SIOP is grateful for XClinical’s commitment to both support SIOP financially and to help raise awareness that through SIOP, doctors and researchers can make a real difference to the life of tomorrow’s child” says SIOP President Gabriele Calaminus.
