Court Decides Fate of Miss Tilly, Magazine Mascot on April 1, 2011

Press release from: MDM Inc.

Health & Fitness Magazine issues in the year 2002 featured a new mascot, a Golden Pomeranian named Tilly with her wide pumpkin-like smile. She and her best friend Gracie, an Australian shepherd mix both were the magazine mascots, posing for the pages and attending public events to represent the magazine.

During the next two and a half years, Miss Tilly started her career as a dog model for a company with a traveling dog car seat and pet harnesses and a dog mascot / dog model for her owner’s company, MDM Publications, part of Million Dollar Memory for sessions on pet identification and observation training.

But in 2005, when a dog sitter refused to give her back to her owner, Dr. Donna Schwontkowski (ret.), that’s when the real battle began. The dog sitter claimed that Miss Tilly got out of the house, was eaten by a coyote, and nowhere to be found. Schwontkowski and Gracie both combed the streets searching for her every chance they had, and though friends reported Miss Tilly sightings in the area, the dog was not found.

“We continued searching. Friends helped and we ran missing dog ads in the magazine; all to no avail. Whenever we talked about Miss Tilly, Gracie’s eyes would tear up and she would sigh and lay her head down on the floor. She was obviously depressed by the loss of her best friend,” said Schwontkowski.

After months of no leads, Schwontkowski was inspired to write her ebook, Finding Miss Tilly & The Golden Thread. “The Golden Thread is the connection our pets have to the Creator of the Universe. It’s where their unconditional love comes from. We have that same Golden Thread connection and can tap into it through our pets,” she said.

Schwontkowski contacted friends to help edit the book. Shortly thereafter, the dog sitter confessed that Miss Tilly was alive and well and had been given away. However, a legal battle has occurred about the return of the dog.

Because law enforcement told her it was a civil matter, the matter had to be put in a waiting mode. But on April 1st, 2011 a Sacramento CA small claims court judge will decide the fate of Miss Tilly. A decision made in favor of the defendant could mean that any pet sitter can give away the dogs they care for with no repercussions.

MDM Inc creates books, training materials, and keynote presentations on topics including health, natural healing, nutrition, memory, dogs and learning. Their official website is www.MillionDollarMemory.net
