Boinx FotoMagico 2: Storytelling for Photographers

03-12-2007 12:58 PM CET | IT, New Media & Software

Press release from: Boinx Software

Las Vegas, NV - March 8th, 2007. Since photography went digital, much has changed for photographers. They need new ways to express themselves, new ways to present their work. FotoMagico 2 features new ways to share your photo presentations as standalone shows or Mac OS X screensavers that present the FotoMagico show in the same high quality without the need to install FotoMagico. Photographers also don't like to spend a lot of time learning to use new software, so FotoMagico 2 is even easier to use than FotoMagico 1 which was named Apple Design Awards Best Mac OS X User Experience Runner-up in 2006. Boinx Software announces the immediate availability of FotoMagico 2, a new pricing structure starting at US $49 (down from $79) as well as the update procedures and pricing.

Standalone Player, Screensavers, Watermark

FotoMagico 2 introduces new ways to share slideshows in high quality with people who do not have their own copy of FotoMagico on their Macs. Photographers can create standalone players and screensavers that offers the same playback quality as the full version of FotoMagico. Since the show is rendered in real time, the file sizes remain small if compared to HD video. Standalone players and screensavers start the show as soon as they are opened and can be made to expire after a certain time or after having been played a certain number of times. In order to brand their shows, photographers can add a visible watermark to the presentation which is visible during the complete playback.

Fresh New Look

Because Photographers should be able to spend their time making great photos, it is important that their photo presentation software is easy to use. FotoMagico 2 improves on the UI of FotoMagico 1.x that won the 2006 Apple Design Award Best Mac OS X User Experience Runner-up. The new UI is not only sporting a refreshed look but also makes FotoMagico even more enjoyable to use.

Express vs. Pro

To serve the needs of different groups of photographers, FotoMagico 2 comes in two flavors: An even more affordable FotoMagico 2 Express at just $49 (down from $79 for FotoMagico 1.x) for the casual photographer and a FotoMagico 2 Pro for the professional photographer.

Update from Version 1

Despite all the great new features, the update to FotoMagico 2 Express is free for all current owners of a FotoMagico 1.x license. The built-in setup assistant will help users to update to the new license.

The update to FotoMagico 2 Pro from FotoMagico 1.x is - for a short time until May 31st, 2007 - just $30. After May 31st, the update will be $50.

For the full range of updates, see the Kagi Store at boinx.com/kagi.

Family License

FotoMagico can be installed on more than one Mac, but can only be used on one machine at a time. With FotoMagico 2, Boinx Software introduces the Family License, which allows the software to be used on up to 5 computers in a private household at the same time. This allows a photographer to use the software on her laptop and her desktop machine as well as her kids or spouse to use it on theirs. For pricing information see the Kagi Store at boinx.com/kagi.

Availability and pricing

FotoMagico 2 is available immediately from boinx.com/download. A built-in assistant will guide users through the process of aquiring the proper license. FotoMagico 2 Express is available for $49, FotoMagico 2 Pro is available for $129 via Kagi. For all purchase options see boinx.com/fotomagico/buy. Commercial Multi-User license discounts are available upon request.
