Timberline Knolls and iaedp Foundation Partner to Offer National Educational Series, Quarterly Webinars for Professionals
CHICAGO (March 21, 2011) – Beginning this month, Timberline Knolls launches a first-time partnership with the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (iaedp) Foundation to bring a free quarterly series, Webinars on Wellness, that will focus on physical and emotional issues, hope, healing and recovery for the eating disorder professional community. “Family Healing and Communication,” the first program in the series, will take place on Wednesday, March 23, from 1-2 p.m. CDT and feature Stan Selinger, Ph.D., Clinical Psychologist and Family Therapy Coordinator at Timberline Knolls, and Marcia Nickow, PsyD, CADC, CGP, Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Primary Therapy Coordinator at Timberline Knolls. The first webinar will discuss the importance of concurrent healing and recovery for friends and family. Timberline Knolls has applied for 1 CE for counselors, social workers and psychologists for the one-hour session.The new iaedp/Timberline Knolls webinar series will serve to educate the professional community on a national basis on the serious issues pertaining to eating disorders and substance abuse recovery. It is Timberline Knolls’ latest effort in furthering the advancement of its speakers bureau, the Clinical Development Institute, beginning with Drs. Selinger and Nickow.
“Eating disorders affect not only the person suffering from the disease, but also their families and loved ones. The importance of family in recovering from an eating disorder or any mental illness cannot be overstated,” says Dr. Selinger. “Webinars are an effective way to communicate with those individuals who seek information, help and guidance in order to find lifelong recovery from their disease, and for the loved ones and other family members trying to support them in the best way possible.”

About Dr. Stanley Selinger
Dr. Selinger is Family Therapy Coordinator at Timberline Knolls with more than 30 years of experience within the field. In addition to family therapy sessions at TK, he co-developed and co-facilitates the Multi-Family Group program where families learn from each other and discuss significant issues, and are supported by hearing how other families go through the recovery process. A New York City native, Dr. Selinger received his doctorate in psychology and master’s degree from Ohio State University. He is currently an adjunct faculty member at Governors State University in Illinois as well as a clinical assistant professor of psychology in the College of Medicine at University of Illinois at Chicago. He is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Illinois Psychological Association.
About Dr. Marcia Nickow
Dr. Nickow oversees a clinical team of primary therapists, including substance abuse and eating disorder specialists at Timberline Knoll. She also conducts intensive individual, family and group psychotherapy with adults and adolescents who have substance use disorders, eating disorders, trauma histories, self-injury histories and a range of psychiatric disorders, combining 12-step facilitation, phenomenological, narrative-constructivist, and psychodynamic approaches in treating patients. In addition to her position at Timberline Knolls, she is adjunct faculty in the PsyD Clinical Psychology program and the Forensic Psychology program at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She received both a master’s and doctorate in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and a master’s degree in Addictions from National-Louis University in Illinois. She serves as a Board Member of both the Illinois Group Psychotherapy Society (IGPS) and The Chicago Center for the Study of Groups and Organizations (CCSGO).
