Press release from: CONRIC PR & Marketing

Now there’s extra incentive for learning how to get rid of yard waste the right way. Lee County Solid Waste division is working with Lowe’s stores in Fort Myers to give away paper yard waste bags. The bags will be available while supplies last Saturday, March 23 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Lowe’s on 14960 S. Tamiami Trail, and on Saturday, March 30 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Lowe’s on 8040 Dani Drive. Shoppers can find the bags at the Keep Lee Plastic Free table inside both stores.

“It’s easy to remember not to use plastic once you know about it, but a lot of people don’t understand what to do with their yard waste,” Lee County Solid Waste Director Pam Keyes said. “We’re out to change that, and we’re grateful to Lowe’s for their collaboration and hospitality.”

Using paper bags instead of plastic for yard waste keeps the debris out of the landfill, allowing it to be turned into mulch or compost. Almost 10,000 tons of material taken every year to landfills from Lee County could be saved if all residents avoid using plastic bags for yard waste.

Waste cans, another viable alternative, are easy for workers to handle and also save yard waste from landfills.

Representatives from the Solid Waste division will be at the table to answer questions from residents. The Garbax 30-gallon paper bags will be given out while supplies last.

Visit keepleeplasticfree.com to see what else Lee County residents can get when they make an effort to properly dispose of yard waste.

Lee County Solid Waste seeks to ensure the health, safety and general welfare of the citizens of Lee County by providing a responsible and economical solid waste management system. The agency, a division of the Lee County Public Utilities Department, has established a track record of success. Including energy recovered from the agency’s Waste To Energy Facility, Lee County is on track to meet Florida's 75 percent recycling goal by 2020. Lee County Solid Waste plans to continue implementing programs that make recycling, resource recovery and responsible waste management easier and pledges to strive for even more effective and sustainable solutions for the future. Jim Lee - easy is hard
Everyday life objects that are familiar to the viewer compose Jim Lee’s sculptures, paintings and installations. As they give off the aura of “the found”, they inspire connotations linked to Arte Povera. Their basic structure is preserved, but is getting recomposed in a certain manner. Those workings could be reduced to fundamental terms as Colour, Form, Line and Shape but this statement would not cope with the sublime play of
