Firefighter Response System Granted U.S. Patent

Press release from: Advanced First Responder Solutions, LLC

Salem, OR – March 8, 2011 - AFRS (Advanced First Responder Solutions), developers of the Firefighter Response System, today announced that it has been granted a patent from the United States Copyright and Patent Office for its innovative technology, the “Firefighter Response System”. The technology behind this patent, U.S. Patent No. 7,898,410, enables emergency service agencies to know who and how many first responders are responding seconds after being dispatched, and to what location the first responders are responding to.
Emergency service agencies rely daily on volunteers, paid-on-call, and career personnel to quickly respond to emergencies. These agencies face various complexities related to their human resources, both prior an emergency and after dispatchers have tapped out an incident. The Firefighter Response System was developed to help with these complexities, providing mission-critical data in the field, at the station, and at dispatch centers. Emergency service agencies are now able to view who is available to respond to an incident and who is not, 24x7, 365 days a year. Personnel can create their own personal schedules that automatically display when they are available and when they are not. These schedules can be overridden by personnel simply calling into the system from a phone and changing their status. After dispatch has toned out an emergency, agencies are able to track groups of personnel and know who is responding to the dispatch and to what location. A few examples of groups that can be tracked include each station within an agency, Hazmat, SAR, CERT, Technical rescue, Water rescue, and Helicopter teams. If personnel are able to respond to a request from dispatch, they call into the Firefighter Response System from any type of phone to register their response. Calls are answered and discounted automatically, enabling personnel to focus on traveling safely to the station or scene.

Advanced First Responder Solutions, LLC – AFRS, is a Software as a Service company located in Salem, Oregon. AFRS designs, develops, markets, and supports a web-based application, the Firefighter Response System, and is focused on developing a compressive suite of services to help emergency service agencies streamline communications with their personnel. The Firefighter Response System provides emergency service agencies with scheduling, notification, and a response tool to assist in making informed decisions both before and during emergency incidents.
