Press release from: Llama Linda Ranch

Most gardeners don't realize that llama manure makes a great plant food. It won't burn the plants, attract flies or smell. This new website tells how to use it and where you can buy it. Learn how to make a plant "tea" and other great facts.

Glenwood Springs, CO March 7, 2011

A Colorado llama rancher has started selling llama manure through a new website; llamanure.com.

Llamas are fairly rare and little has been know about the usefulness of their dung. Rancher Linda Hayes discovered how popular it was when the local garden clubs answered her ad offering it free if the taker shoveled it themselves. Hayes relates that they gardeners came in droves. they brought with rented trailers, hired help and dump trucks. This led her to study its attributes and with her knew knowledge, decided to offer it as an on line product.

LlaManure comes from llamas and alpacas. Their dung is naturally safe for trees, vegetables and even indoor plants. The dung starts out as pellets that quickly break down into a fine grained fertilizer. This can easily be mixed into potting soil. While in palletized form it can be spread under trees or in gardens. There is no smell and the pellets are dry so they do not attract flies. The composition of the dung is such that it does not burn plants.

Since the pellets are light weight they can be shipped easily. Upon delivery they are soaked in water to make a plant tea that can be used both in and outdoors. One small zip lock bag of pellets will make ten or more gallons of tea.

This new site offers the recipe for the tea, chemical makeup of the manure and tips for its use. For example, when the pellets are scattered around the base of a tree it keeps elk from eating the bark.

Organic gardeners will find this site useful as LlaManure is an all natural product. To introduce the Llamanure website, Hayes is offering free manure to those in her local area.
